Joshua Nathaniel Reid Ollswang

Thank you for taking time to explore our profiles. It’s powerful to consider reaching out. If that’s what you’re doing right now, it’s wonderful you’re here. All are welcome.

With that in mind, here’s a little info about me to hopefully help in considerations:

I’ve worked with families and individuals for more than 15 years in various therapeutic capacities, and am a licensed psychotherapist specializing in couples therapy, men’s and women’s issues, gifted children, survivors of abuse/neglect, as well as hopes for connection, meaning, intimacy, healing, and a few other areas about which I’d be happy to talk with you.

In academic journals I’ve published papers focusing on psychotherapeutic theories and their applications in our lives. At professional psychological association conferences I’ve presented on gender roles, focusing on how to move from disempowerment to empowerment. And I’ve been happy and honored to help couples find harmony and ways forward through painful periods of loss and disconnection, emerging into novel understandings and more adaptive relational patterns, into shared healing and relief.

I’ve earned a master’s degree from the University of Chicago focused on clinical mental health interventions, a master’s degree from the European Graduate School in Switzerland focused on psychotherapeutic theories, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Additional post-graduate training has focused on couples therapy through modalities of EFT Couples Therapy, Gottman Couples Therapy, Trauma-Informed Care, IFS Couples Therapy, Interpersonal Neurobiology, and Intrapsychic Humanism. I’ve also studied relational expressivity, deeply meaningful connection, shared meaning-making, and nuances of communication at Stanford University, The Juilliard School, and the London School of Economics.

Additionally, thankfully, Julie Menanno is my supervisor and mentor. She is truly as wonderful, brilliant, clear, kind, and insightful in person as you might imagine from exploring her books and Instagram account. Even more so, to be honest. And I incorporate as much of her extraordinary work as possible.
